Plant Kindness? More like Assembling Kindness!
This past weekend we hosted our first-ever "assembly-style" Planter Workshop at for our 3rd Annual PLANT KINDNESS on Sunday May 3rd. We pitched the idea to two big movers-and-shakers in the studio: our Member Events Committee and the KCP Team.
Our goal was to make 100 planters for our fundraiser in 1 day! Could we do it?
Together we formulated a workshop like we've never seen before, which was to round up the troops and making pottery, factory-style!
Starting at 10:00am, our first round of potters would roll out slabs to make handbuilt planters, working it's way down the line: texturizing, assembling and finally finishing and decorating.
At 2:00pm, our next round came in to make extruded vases that followed a similar procedure of assembly, finishing and decorating.
And you know what? We did it!
Not only that, but we did it with a lot of laughs, good chats, and fun along the way. Shout-out to our local bakery, Big Waters Bakery for catering our delicious sandwiches - our much needed fuel for the day!
We owe so much gratitude to our awesome community of potters who share their talent, love of clay, and hard-work with not just our studio but the whole community! Because come May, we get to share these finished creations with the wider community for an afternoon gathering in our space.
Thank you again to our CSC Members and KCP Students for a fun day spent with friends for our shared cause!
We're looking forward to seeing all those pots come to life with glaze in the coming weeks. In the meantime, hope everyone gets some much-needed rest!
