FUSION: Women in Clay Conference!

Updated: Jul 14, 2025

CSC took on FUSION: Women in Clay Conference!

Did you attend this year's FUSION Clay Conference this May? Being in our own backyard, we were excited to attend with a big group of potters from our studio! The weekend was kicked off with a gallery opening for a traveling clay & glass exhibition at the Great Lakes Gallery.

The conference itself was co-hosted in Kingston, Ontario in collaboration with the Kingston Potters' Guild at the Holiday Inn - Waterfront, welcoming potters from across the country (we met those as far as Manitoba to Nova Scotia) and presenters from across the world:

  • Naomi Clement, Stratford, ON

  • Gran Han, Winnipeg, MB/South Korea

  • Candice Methe, Rockland, ME

We can't believe how much learned so much each day, in every faucet of the craft! From learning new decorating ideas, slab-building techniques, throwing BIG, throwing small (hello, teapot spouts!), coil-building, glazing tips and more. There were also lots of breaks in between presentations to go up and ask questions one-on-one with the guest artists.

We were also lucky enough to have a booth at this year's event to share our new space with local potters to learn about our Membership & Classes, enter a Giveaway (we created a Favs Pack in collab with Amaranth Stoneware) and view our Pop-Up Gallery of member's work. Thank you to everyone who came over to say hi! It was so nice to meet new friends and invite you to come take a class with us.

And thanks to everyone in this photo: the Promotions & Membership Committee, Krista Cameron, and our supportive members who made it fun and possible!

Can't wait to attend the conference next year!

By the way: We also made these really fun wooden molds to giveaway to every attendant in the FUSION Swag Bags.

Have you tried it yet? They work great! Made by Roger, our go-to handyman and friend of the CSC.
